"Midday Magnolia" is one of the few florals that I paint each year. Generally, my florals sell so quickly that I haven't created a separate category of "Florals" for them yet. The magnolia blossom has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. I captured on film in Alabama this particular flower featured in the painting. Because the tree was on private property, I could not take a blossom with me, but had to rely on my photograph for reference later when painting the flower. In the past when I've had a real magnolia blossom to work with, I'm surprised at how quickly they fade and wilt under my spotlight's heat. This particular flower photo was taken at high noon, hence the title, "Midday Magnolia."

Frame - Heavy, large, rounded, gold frame with inside generous linen liner that nicely offsets the creaminess of the magnolia blossom.
