"McCoy With Apples And Polenta" is a study of reflections and shadows. The green ceramic bowl adds a much-needed note of coolness to an otherwise warm and analogous color family. I found the McCoy lidded crock at a much reduced price in an antiques shop. It was marked down drastically due to a large crack and small chip. Cracks, chips, and other blemishes never bother me ... I can "fix" them in my paintings, if I wish to - but most of the time, I paint them in for character. They say to me the piece was well-used and loved, and such history is meaningful to me.
