"Sunlit Citrus" features a striking Mexican 'sunflower' ceramic vase spilling forth lemons, and surrounded by deep orange tangelos and green apples on a yellow checkered cloth. I arranged this still life outside in direct sunlight to find the placement that would best enhance the fruit and pottery. Then I brought everything back inside to my studio and used my photographer's lamp to spotlight the actual set up, duplicating the angle of the sun. I then painted directly from my set up.

This painting won 2nd place in the pastel category of a juried show.
