"Market Prize" showcases my favorite Mexican bean pot (twice) that has been featured in many of my paintings. The rough and earthy texture of this pot has so much charm, and it's particularly quirky because the bottom is round and it won't sit straight. The pastel painting itself is highly textured with an acrylic gesso underneath the pastel to appear as if the two pots are sitting on the ground at a market.
"Market Prize" won a 3rd place ribbon in the Pastel category at a recent Juried Art Exhibition.
